Silent Thunder 1. Silent Thunder rolling quickly brings the greatest danger, Undercutting all that's stable seeking to destroy, Only able to serve self and never, ever others, Bringing down what it perceives to be the enemy. Ch.- And if you join the battle, then you're done, For in there, there's nothing to be won. In the battle for the hearts and souls of men Here we go 'round the circle once again. 2. What will bring an end to all of this death and this destruction? What will heal our minds and restore integrity? When will we locate ourselves, get down a solid anchor, Then remove, ourselves from the hate and the rancor? Ch.- And if you join the battle, then you're done, For in there, there's nothing to be won. In the battle for the hearts and souls of men, Here we go 'round the circle once again. In the battle for the hearts and souls of men, Here we go 'round the circle once again.

On The Way Down 1. It's late night in the universe of humans, Where we face out action and our crimes, For burning up the gas and the bitumen, And leading selfish lives despite the times. Ch. So, we blew it before we knew it was upon us, For years we failed to do it, Though so many tried to warn us That we're sinking in this stinking mess we've made. And now we're out of time, We're out of line, To awaken and to change our minds on the way down. 1. It's past midnight but the kitchen light's still burning, In the homes and the condos of this land, And families are thrashing out their yearning For some solid ground on which to stand. Ch. So, we blew it before we knew it was upon us For years we failed to do it, Though so many tried to warn us That we're sinking in this stinking mess we've made. And now we're out of time, We're out of line, To awaken and to change our minds on the way down. End- It's late night in the universe of humans.

We Can't Be Led 1. Deep down I know that thing can't always be just so So, when things go off track, I remember that I know That the pendulum swings high and low Measuring how our time flows. Ch. 1- And even though I know there's a bright light up ahead Waiting for us patiently, knowing we can't be led To our destiny. Ch. 2- If we can't find our way and we can't be shown, Are we then doomed to wander, With no direction and no home And only our losses to ponder? 2. Right now, I clearly see how we choose our destinies In every moment, in choices made, We build a "me" through prices paid Ch. 1- And even though I know there's a bright light up ahead Waiting for us patiently, knowing we can't be led To our destiny. Ch. 2- And if we can't find our way and we can't be shown, Are we then doomed to wander, With no direction and with no home And only our losses to ponder? End - And if we can't find our way and we can't be shown, Are we then doomed to wander, With no direction and with no home And only our losses to ponder?

On Their Sofas 1. When I woke up this morning I felt the weight of the world And the negativity of the insults that get hurled All that power tripping and the insults and the lies Cheating all the people, all the husbands and the wives. Ch. So everybody's trapped in their own homes Everybody's got no work or school And everybody's missing their sports domes Everybody can't look cool On their sofas. 2. I could see how some citizens want to bring it down They're hurting even worse if they're poor and black or brown. Ch. So everybody's trapped in their own homes Everybody's got no work or school And everybody's missing their sports domes Everybody can't look cool On their sofas. End - On their sofas, on their sofas.

Karma Came Along 1. We've been sitting on the sidelines, Looking for our way, Trying to clear our minds and Hoping for a better day. Ch When the sun comes out and the people shout "Hooray". When the highest-ranking criminals must pay. They were taking their time, they were robbing us blind, They tried seizing all the power, But karma came along and re-wrote the song And soon their dreams turned sour. 2. Who thought the corona virus could bite their ass so hard, That when their arrogance was great, they let down their guard? Ch When the sun comes out and the people shout "Hooray". Then the highest-ranking criminals must pay. They were taking their time, they were robbing us blind, They tried seizing all the power, But karma came along and re-wrote the song And soon their dreams turned sour. 3. Oh, those sour dreams can take over the night, Bring thing usually found just out of sight, Buried deeply, buried deeply, buried deeply, buried dee

Every Person's Now An Island 1. In this time of isolation, People sitting staring at their walls, In every home in every nation They listen to see when and where death calls. Ch- You can catch it but you can't run away, You can't know where it's hiding, And even if you can keep it at bay You know it's time it's biding. It's managed to shut the whole world down in record time. Now every person's an island on their own, And every last one of them feels that "I'm not to blame", It's all been thrust upon them, their world view's blown. 2. In this time of our reflection When we don't know wat to feel, Movement stopped in all directions With only time and hope to help us heal. It's all been thrust upon them, their world view's blown. It's all been thrust upon them, their world view's blown.

Their Advice 03:55
Their Advice 1. Hot and dusty highway, running 'cross the plain. After all those lifetimes, find I'm here again Ch- Oh, how well I know the sacrifice If only I had learned from their advice. 2. I pretend I'm grown up, I ignore the pain, See how we're all shackled, cannot use our brains Ch- Oh, how well I know the sacrifice If only I had learned from their advice. 3. Maybe keep on moving, avoid involvement, Helps to prevent heartache, not knowing where life went. Ch- Oh, how well I know the sacrifice If only I had learned from their advice. Oh, how well I know the sacrifice If only I had learned from their advice.

Everybody Needs Their Own Truth 1. Why do some human minds Need to be told what to do all the time? It seems thee can't think straight, Always ready to take up the bait. Ch- Everybody needs their own truths, Everybody must get down, And everybody creates their own news, Keeping to their side of town. 2. Who gets to change society, What it means to be free? And who get to define the laws, Is hitched to a winning cause? Ch- Everybody needs their own truths, Everybody must get down, And everybody creates their own news, Keeping to their side of town. End- Why do some human minds Need to be told what to do all the time?

Something Brand New 1. We're coming to a fork in the road And I hope that does not scare you, Our debt has now come due And so we're forced to choose. Ch. On way we carry on and see where that might take us Or take the other path And let life remake us To something brand new, to something brand new, To something brand new, o something brand new. 2. We're coming o a fork in the road And our choices must be conscious, The direction we must go Has been made quite clear. Ch. On way we carry on and see where that might take us Or take the other path And let life remake us To something brand new, to something brand new, To something brand new, to something brand new, End. To something brand new.

Surfing On The Nick Of Time 1. Well, I don't need money, and I don't need fame I don't need honies, to know my name, Ch. I just need time to go so slow, And give me more chances to grow. To forgo the wealth and go for the health, While surfing on the nick of time, While we ride out the weather And wait to learn whether Many are sentenced to dying, Things can slip out of control. And separate us each from the whole. 2. I don't need power, or a new title, And I won't wear, your latest bridle, Ch. I just need time to go so slow, And give me more chances to grow. To forgo the wealth and go for the health, While surfing on the nick of time, While we ride out the weather And wait to learn whether Many are sentenced to dying, Things can slip out of control. And separate us each from the whole. End. Things can slip out of control. And separate us each from the whole.

about

The really big stuff, things like pandemics, economic crashes, societal breakdown, wars, climatic collapse, and such, often descend upon us like a storm that at first brings dark clouds far in the distance, then increasingly noticeable lightning, then the deep rumblings of thunder, followed by vicious lightning, loud, ground shaking thunder, strong winds, rain, and possibly even hail. When I wrote the songs in this album, in my mind I could see the first distant flashes of lightening, but I couldn't yet hear the actual thunder of a different kind of coming storm that I felt descending upon humanity, but I could detect the early warning of silent thunder telling me to prepare for something.

This album was written and recorded during the days of the 2020-21 COVID-19 pandemic. All the songs were written by Gary, and all the instrument tracks were performed and recorded by Jason and Gary. Not only did Jason do his usual excellent drum, vocal harmonies, and bass guitar parts, but he actually learned to play lead guitar during the pandemic. Quite a feat.

This album reflects the mood and feel of the times

While my more polished songs usually gravitate to II Cosmic or Howling Wannabes albums, the Deep Dude albums often provide homes for simpler songs, songs that are topical, or ones that are somehow different than usual for me..
